Yes, this is really a mashup. Greek producer DJ Butcher is a well-known name in the field of edited and remixed jazz, funk, nu disco and electro; a guy with several own labels [Our Records, Our Samples, Chopshop Music and Undercover Operations] mashed two tunes by the American funk, soul, and jazz composer and vibraphone player Roy Ayers: “Everybody”, taken from his 1983 album “Lots Of Love” and “Green And Gold”, a gem from the 2003 released album “Virgin Ubiquity” with tunes originally recorded between 1976 and 1981.
Yes, this mashup is really funky, jazzy and sexy. A very respectful rework of Roy Ayers‘ genius. Don’t expect anything less.

Don’t worry. I know it’s not a good joke.
Please check this simple hiphop remix of King‘s “Supernatural” by someone named Dallas Scatterbrain or ccxccss or whatever. I couldn’t find out yet. The information policy on the related soundcloud page is a bit confusing.
But I like what she or he did with this soul ballad. The song received some pepper but not too much. The whole meal isn’t destroyed, still tasty. What is fair enough. Maybe some mastering would be fine but it’s still playable on a college party with small PA’s when people prefer to snog.
MARY J BLIGE: JUST FINE [EL TRAIN REFIX]
It’s time for some refixed r’n’b again: Brighton based electronic music producer Luke Nyeke, or better known to some as El Train, reworked Mary J Blige‘s “Just Fine”, kept the mellow melodic vibe and made it ready for a relaxed but aesthetic dancefloor. Features the deepest voice of the American r’n’b singer so far. Spreaded via the soundcloud page of the interesting Singaporian Darker Than Wax label.
ROLLING STONES: MISS YOU [FOC EDITS ROLLING CUT]

Imagine this: Muhammad Ali is the President of the United States, Reverend Ike the Secretary of the Treasury, Richard Pryor the Minister of Education, Stevie Wonder the Secretary of Fine Arts and Aretha Franklin the First Lady. That was the vision of George Clinton‘s Parliament band in 1975 when they released their song “Chocolate City”.
Chuck Wild, head honcho at the music blog mixtaperiot.com, got inspired a year ago by the 2nd presidential election win of Barack Obama [the guy who closed Guantanamo], and gave the Parliament classic some fresh edits for another reign.
CHARADES: GIMME THE FUNK [ASKER REMIX]
Charades were a disco/funk studio project by Lotti Golden and R.Alexander. Can’t tell you anything about R.Alexander but Lotti Golden is an American singer-songwriter, poet, journalist, artist, and a cult icon of the late 1960s. In the early 1980s Lotti Golden transitioned from artist to writer/record producer, becoming a major progenitor of electro and early hip hop. “Gimme The Funk” was a not very successful disco funk title when it was released in 1983.
French producer Asker remixed the tune a year ago, and gave it a nice little update. I’m sure that “Gimme The Funk” finds some new friends that way.

CROSBY STILLS NASH & YOUNG: OHIO [MARVEL YEARS REMIX]
“Ohio” is a protest song and counterculture anthem written and composed by Neil Young in reaction to the Kent State shootings in May 1970, and performed by Crosby Stills Nash & Young.
Wikipedia says about the Kent State shootings:
The Kent State shootings (also known as the May 4 massacre or the Kent State massacre) occurred at Kent State University in the U.S. city of Kent, Ohio, and involved the shooting of unarmed college students by the Ohio National Guard on Monday, May 4, 1970. The guardsmen fired 67 rounds over a period of 13 seconds, killing four students and wounding nine others, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis.
Some of the students who were shot had been protesting against the Cambodian Campaign, which President Richard Nixon announced during a television address on April 30. Other students who were shot had been walking nearby or observing the protest from a distance.

THE EAGLES: HOTEL CALIFORNIA [CONSUMABLE ELECTRONICA TWISTED REMIX]
Before I listened to this remix I was sure that I don’t wanna listen to The Eagles‘ “Hotel California” again. It’s a great song, of course. But it’s one of those songs which is played everywhere and everytime and it mostly ends with a nerve-stealing earworm phenomen. I dislike that.
And then I found this: US producer and remixer Consumable Electronica gives “Hotel California” a nice reggae flavor. Damn, it’s an earworm again. But I like it.
JIMI HENDRIX BAND OF GYPSYS: WHO KNOWS [SUONHO RAW-DUB]
This is a subtractive rework of the epic nine a half minute long original recording performed live by Jimi Hendrix & The Band Of Gypsys on December 31, in 1969, which was included on the “Band of Gypsys” album the next year. Suonho, a much travelling italian dj and producer, focused his retouch on the powerful bassline and Buddy Miles‘ crazy scat singing, added another rhythm section and echoes of dub. An essential edit!
SLY & THE FAMILY STONE: IF YOU WANT ME TO STAY [FUNK FERRET EDIT]
A fine simple edit of Sly & The Family Stone‘s “If You Want Me To Stay” by Funk Ferret. The producer from New Zealand extended the intro and outro and paid some attention on the instrumental parts, especially the horn section. I love horns, and that’s what I love on this rework.
