The 3rd Eye Kid Top Ten of 2013 in alphabetical order:

ARETHA FRANKLIN: BABY I LOVE YOU [SAMMY SENIOR REMIX]

“Baby I Love You”, originally released in 1967, was a huge hit for r’n’b singer Aretha Franklin.
Ghetto funk producer Sammy Senior added to the original some up-to-date street credibility: an irresistible driving groove and catchy but unpathetic effects.
This is uplifting music!

ARETHA FRANKLIN: WALK ON BY [MILFA7 REMIX]

“Walk On By” by Aretha Franklin is a cover of Dionne Warwick‘s “Walk On By”.
Larry Graham mentioned this song in an interview for Bass Musician: “I grew up at a time when if an artist covered somebody’s tune, that was really paying them one of the highest compliments. You know, if somebody came out with a song and you did a cover of it, like Aretha Franklin did with Dionne Warwick’s songs, […] she was really paying [her] a high compliment.”
French producer Milfa7 [pronounce “mille facettes” in french, means “thousand facets” in another language] is presenting this song by Aretha Franklin in an adorable way again. Some more accents on the beats, few catchy supportive scratches here and there, a bit of delay when it makes sense. This is another very good example that remixing doesn’t mean automatically destroying a song or creating a caricature out of the template.
Simply wonderful!
