PRINCE: THE FUTURE [GENERIC PEOPLE EDIT]

The year 2014 is close to come. What will bring the future? No men exactly knows. But the present brings you a track from the past: “The Future”, a song from Prince Rogers Nelson‘s 1989 Batman soundtrack, in an edit by the Irish dj and producer unit Generic People. Adds some more weird 303 acid basslines to this groovy and funky old school house tune.

ROBIN SKOUTERIS VS CONSOUL TRAININ: GAMEFALL [CHRIS ISAAK VS ADELE VS FELIX VS MECK VS MADONNA]

gamefall

Epic mashup featuring a duet by Chris Isaak [“Wicked Game”] and the notorious siren Adele [“Skyfall”]. Used instrumental music: Felix [“Don’t You Want Me”], Meck feat. Dino [“Feels Like Home”], Madonna [“Die Another Day”], and an excellent remix of the James Bond 007 anthem “Skyfall” by soundcloud producer Consoul Trainin.
All ingredients connected by Greek producer Robin Skouteris.
A very impressive work. This mashup [and the wonderful created video] simply takes my breath away. A surprise for myself because I am normally far away from being a lover of anything Chris Isaak and/or Adele.

SLY & THE FAMILY STONE: FAMILY AFFAIR [ORLANDO VOORN’S HOUSE MIX]

Funky and percussive house remix of “Family Affair”, a 1971 #1 hit single by Sly & The Family Stone. “Family Affair” is a somber, Hohner Pianet electric piano based record with a rhythm box providing the rhythm, making it the first #1 hit to feature a programmed rhythm track.
Remixed by Dutch producer Orlando Voorn, a US resident, well known for quality productions in the field of electronic music since the 80s.

SHUGGIE OTIS: STRAWBERRY LETTER 23 [GABRIEL VIU & DJ CALVIN BOOTLEG]

This house remix of Shuggie Otis“Strawberry Letter 23” by German producers Gabriel Viu & DJ Calvin from the GreenGorilla Records collective stucks in my head since days. You ask why?
A British study in the journal Psychology of Music has tried to understand the origins of earworms. Quoting an article on nbcnews.com they identified four main triggers:

“The most common one was music exposure, either recently hearing a tune or repeatedly hearing it. A second reason was memory triggers, meaning that seeing a particular person or word, hearing a specific beat, or being in a certain situation reminds you of a song. The third reason for earworms is your emotional frame of mind, or ‘affective states.’ Feeling stressed, surprised or happy when you hear a song may make it stick in your head. And a fourth cause was ‘low attention states.’ A wandering mind, whether from daydreaming or dreams at night, can set off this involuntary musical imagery.”

Having this theory and the incredible Shuggie Otis earworm in mind I am sure that the following reasons make the most sense for me:
1st. musical exposure with listening to this on repeat,
2nd. it reminds me to the original I always loved,
3rd. it makes me happy,
4th. this song is a daydream,
5th. and not on the list: It’s a damn good remix.

CRYSTAL WATERS: 100% PURE LOVE [DJ PRINCE STRING MIX]

crystalwaters

Another work by Norway’s DJ Prince [check his The Beatles “Come Together” remix here]. This is another remix from the SkandinaviMan: Crystal Waters‘s “100% Pure Love”, a house tune filled with lots of strings. Adds sexy catchyness to Crystal Waters‘s vocals. 100% pure party sound.
Produced in 2009. Remains good!
